Bahrain Pavilion Guide: The Most Eco-Friendly Pavilion at the Osaka Expo 2025

At the 2025 Osaka Expo, the Kingdom of Bahrain will present the "Connecting Oceans" pavilion, which skillfully integrates its rich maritime heritage with forward-thinking sustainable design. The pavilion, conceptualized by architect Lina Ghotmeh, draws inspiration from Bahrain's traditional single-mast dhow, reflecting the nation's historical role as a hub for trade and cultural exchange. Covering an area of 995 square meters and standing 13 to 17 meters tall, the structure is built using approximately 3,000 pieces of untreated wood, assembled with expert carpentry techniques. This approach not only pays homage to Bahrain's craftsmanship but also incorporates Japan's woodworking traditions, symbolizing a blend of diverse cultures. The design emphasizes sustainability through passive cooling, minimal foundations, and the use of reusable materials, making it one of the most environmentally conscious buildings at the Expo.
